Unemployed Fail to Apply for Assigned Jobs in Sweden

One in five unemployed fails to seek for jobs that the Employment Service Bureau has assigned them to.

In a study completed by IFAU, the Institute for Labour Market Policy Evaluation, these unemployed often claim that the assigned position either doesn’t correspond to their education or that they consider themselves under or overqualified.

However, as the IFAU pointed out, if there are no plausible reasons for not applying for a job, then the Employment Service Bureau is obliged to inform the unemployment compensation office so that compensation monies cease.
