Dirty Cameras Fail to Catch Speeders in Sweden

Two out of three speeding vehicles caught on camera get away with their misdemeanour because they cannot be identified afterwards.

All together, 90,000 speeding cars got away in 2007, mainly due to dirty speeding cameras. Sweden has around 900 speed cameras but the Swedish Road Administration currently only cleans them once a week.

The Swedish Police Service told daily Metro that at least 25,000 more drivers could be identified if the Swedish Road Administration scrubbed up more often.
