Theft Of The Ark Of The Covenant From Zimbabwe Museum

Throughout Zimbabwe there has recently been an upsurge of religious revivalism linked no doubt with the desperate state of the country. Signs and portents are being perceived as ushering in messianic days. Into this situation the news that the Ark of the Covenant has been discovered in the storeroom of a Harare museum has fallen like a thunderbolt.

Ephraim Sadiki of Mberengwe central Zimbabawe told me last week that he had been to Harare to see the Ark after reading a story about its discovery in Time Magazine. When he got to the museum officials sent him away and did not permit him to see it.

He returned the following day and was told it had disappeared. He believes that someone has stolen it.

I had been in the USA when the film based on the book THE LOST ARK OF THE COVENANT by Tudor Parfitt was shown on the History Channel. I saw the professor on the Today Programme where he repeated the claim to have found the last thing on earth related to the lost Ark. After meeting with Sadiki I went to Harare Monday 17 March to make enquiries myself - and was given the same treatment. People simply refused to permit me to see what is I believe may be the mot holy object in Africa and some might say even the world.
