An elective in the University’s industry-leading Light Construction and Development Management Certificate Program (LCDM), this course will inform students of service leadership and quality, customer expectations, relationships with trade contractors and will provide a legal overview of civil codes and other applicable laws in California.
“Homebuilders face a number of significant challenges in regards to selling, building and delivering homes,” said course instructor, Alyson Austin. “This course will provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to gain a competitive advantage in providing the highest levels of customer service.”
Austin is a 10-year veteran of the homebuilding industry and a member of the advisory committee for the Light Construction and Development Management Certificate Program at UC Irvine Extension. She is also the vice president of member services at the Building Industry Association of Southern California (BIA), a prestigious organization representing the residential construction industry.
With a long career at various prominent industry associations, Austin has been able to develop important relationships that she will tap into for weekly guest speakers.
The Light Construction and Development Management Certificate Program is designed for individuals who are working in or plan to enter the management of construction projects, both residential and light commercial. The program provides the tools for career advancement, improvement of current job skills and the opportunity for career exploration and intellectual enrichment.
