Enjoy Spring At New Jersey Theatre

New Brunswick's State Theatre presents a diverse and exciting lineup of performers this April and May. Kicking off the month of April is two-time Grammy Award-winner, Johnny Mathis (4/3) and the seven-time Tony Award-winning musical, EVITA (4/4-5).

Also in April, commemorate one of the greatest rock bands of all time with One Night of Queen featuring Gary Mullen and The Works (4/12); visit the other side of the music spectrum with the Grammy Award-winning polka king, Jimmy Sturr (4/13); and dance along with music from Southern India as the Ragamala Music and Dance Theater performs "From Temple to Theater," featuring soloist Aparna Ramaswamy (4/17). Closing the month of April is comedian Louis C.K. (4/25), and Doo-wop show Richard Nader's Magic Moments to Remember Concert (4/26).

The excitement continues in May with comedian, Craig Ferguson (5/2) from The Late Late Show and outstanding performances by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (5/6-7); Orpheus Chamber Orchestra with Sarah Chang (5/8); Tri-Cities Opera in The Barber of Seville (5/10); Princeton Symphony Orchestra's Peter & the Wolf: The Nature of Music (5/18); and the Dark Star Orchestra—Recreating the Grateful Dead Experience (5/30).

Peter & the Wolf: The Nature of Music - Princeton Symphony Orchestra

This charming program introduces young children to the symphony orchestra through music inspired by the natural world. In Prokofiev's perennial favorite, Peter & the Wolf (with a special guest narrator), individual instruments get to shine as they imitate Bird, Duck, Cat, Wolf, and the other characters in the story. The concert includes a demonstration of the instruments and their families, plus shorter works by Beethoven, Debussy, Vivaldi, and Johann Strauss that evoke birds, animals, the seasons, and the weather.
