Hosted by the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC), the forum was attended by more than 80 representatives from the government, universities across China, the research centers for traffic accidents in China, the Swedish Road Administration, the Japanese Institute for Traffic Accident Research and Data Analysis and automotive parts suppliers.
Among the topics discussed at the China Road Safety Forum for further study and cooperation are the following:
The necessity of analysis of quantitative crash data
The characteristics of automotive crashes in China
Partnership opportunities with universities and businesses
Utilization of knowledge and resources from outside of China
NCIC, Nissan’s affiliate company in China, shared their research data and analysis from automotive crashes. As well, a representative from the Nissan Technical Center in Japan provided information on the development of Nissan’s "active headrest," an example of a technology that evolved by utilizing crash data.
Nissan is committed to building safe products and to advocating for increased safety awareness in all the markets where it does business. For almost 40 years, Nissan has supported the "Nissan Hello Safety" campaign in Japan to increase drivers’ safety awareness and encourage children’s safety.
In addition, through the collaborative efforts of the Road Traffic Safety Association China, NCIC and Nissan's local partner, Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. (DFL), the "Nissan Safety Driving Forum" has been conducted since 2005. This program works to improve participants' driving skills and increase safety awareness. This year, NCIC and DFL plan to conduct the forum in more than 50 cities throughout China.-Nissan
