UPENN Discourages Students From Using OS Vista

University of Pennsylvania technology officials are recommending to students and faculty members that they not install Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 on their computers, according to an article published Friday in Information Week. The operating system is an upgrade to Microsoft's Windows Vista.

The OS Visa software reportedly is laden with bugs that make it difficult to download. Once computer users have downloaded it, many have found that it slows their PC’s.

UPENN's information-technology department is advising campus computer users to adhere with Windows XP or Vista until the glitches are corrected. The department says it will support Vista SP1 only when it is preinstalled on computers. —Andrea L. Foste

Without much fanfare, Microsoft releases Windows Vista Service Pack1, with 23 security updates and 550 bug fixes. In true Microsoft fashion this update is not going to be an easy one to install.
