“Lowe’s is dedicated to improving the communities they serve through support of public education, community improvement projects, and home safety initiatives. The Urban League of Central Carolinas is a proud recipient of Lowe’s philanthropic efforts. We look forward to building better communities with Lowe’s for years to come,” states agency President/CEO, Dr. Patrick Graham.
Created in 1984, the Professional Adult Empowerment Program is the Urban League of Central Carolinas’ flagship service, focusing on workforce development for underserved adults. The program addresses emerging community issues of financial stability, social equality, earning power, and education. The Lowe’s Homeowner Readiness Curriculum will equip participants with knowledge of home ownership essentials, financial literacy strategies, and provide access to life enhancing resources.
“We initially only planned to incorporate the Lowe’s Homeowner Readiness Curriculum into PEP for our existing clients. However, we quickly realized that there are many individuals who are already gainfully employed whose lives could be enhanced by this program. With Lowe’s generous financial support, we decided to open the curriculum to the entire community,” states Johnny Worthy, Assistant PEP Director.
