Hipsters are encouraged to hoop it up with Kaivalya Hoop Dancers, an internationally experienced hoop, fire and fusion art dance company based out of Boulder. The dancers encourage personal interaction with the audience as they combine spiritual bliss with wholesome grooves. Local group, The Bowed Piano Ensemble, will perform their craft on the inside of a grand piano. Using homemade bows, Popsicle sticks, tongue depressors, even guitar picks to manipulate the piano strings, the ensemble produces haunting and mesmerizing sounds.
Internationally recognized trumpet player Hugh Ragin of the Park Hill Brass hosts detours throughout the galleries, teaching guests a few tricks to being bebop. King of the whisper trumpet, Ragin will riff off artwork in the galleries. Untitled regulars Buntport Theater will keep the crowd laughing with their latest installment of the Joan and Charlie Show, a comical spoof based on two characters in a painting in the DAM’s modern and contemporary galleries.
Many artists call their work “Untitled” so nothing limits how each viewer perceives the art. Similarly, anything can happen at Untitled events. Like every final Friday event, Untitled #13 (Riff) offers a dose of the unexpected with new music, interactive technology, a cash bar and offbeat encounters with art. Untitled events are included in regular Museum admission. Students presenting valid IDs receive 2-for-1 admission when tickets are purchased on-site. Inspiring Impressionism requires an exhibition ticket.
For one night only, visitors receive 2-for-1 admission to Inspiring Impressionism. Valid for tickets bought on-site only. Catering is provided by Bistro Boys Catering and Gourmet Fine Catering. Stop by the final Friday of April for Untitled #14 (What’s Your Beef?), April 25, when the DAM wants to know, “What’s your beef with the art world?” The final Friday in May, Untitled #15 (La-La Land), will take place on May 30. -- www.denverartmuseum.org
