Bush blames the Congress of hectoring and says that Iraqi leaders don't need that as they are making progress.
President George Bush spoke today at Dayton, Ohio, discussing Global War on Terror and saying that the leaders in Iraq need security, not "hectoring" from the US Congress.
Here is the quote from the white house press release on George Bush's speech where he used the word Hectoring, which has many people searching online of what Hectoring means.
"You know, they got their budget passed, and sometimes it takes our Congress a while to get its budget passed. (Laughter.) Nevertheless, some members of Congress decided the best way to encourage progress in Baghdad was to criticize and threaten Iraq's leaders while they're trying to work out their differences. But hectoring was not what the Iraqi leaders needed. What they needed was security. And that is what the surge has provided. When the security situation improved and Iraqi the leaders were reassured that America wouldn't leave them, that America would support them, they then made tough compromises necessary to get key pieces of legislation passed."
The dictionary.com explains hectoring as "To intimidate or dominate in a blustering way" or hectoring could also mean "to behave like a bully; swagger."
