Port Adelaide defender Troy Chaplin has been given the green light to tackle Sydney at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday.
Chaplin has had an interrupted preparation and missed last week's season opener against Geelong.
Power coach Mark Williams says Chaplin will toughen up Port's back line.
"I think he's trained well and as I said this time last week he's probably a chance to play," he said.
"But we probably took a longer view on making sure he'd be right for the rest of the year.
"He's one of the more experienced ones, he's been there for a while and he can help develop the others around him."
Williams says he has concerns about the cricket pitch area of the SCG and he hopes players are not injured.
Williams fears the pitch area will be hard and he wants more water sprayed onto it between now and the game to soften it up.
"Believe me Paul Roos would think exactly the same thing as me," he said.
"Don't be thinking this is a Port Adelaide whinge, this is two coaches concerned about their players and if the pitch is as hard as I suspect it will be, we'll both be concerned until the end of the game to make sure that we all get through it."
