

ReadyBoost is a new Windows technology that allows to improve system performances applying the concept that flash memories access is more fast than the hard disk counterpart. ReadyBoost uses intelligent memory management to cash on Usb keys small amounts of non-contiguous data that are slow to get from the hard drive.
First, your USB key has to be ReadyBoost simpatico:
- USB 2.0
- 3.5 MB/s reading and 2.5 MB/s writing
- almost 64mb of free space
i.e. Sony MicroVault Usb 2.0 device it is.
Plugged the stick, Vista checks if ReadyBoost compatibile and, if the case:
- select “Speed up my system using ReadyBoost” in the autoplay window
- go through the ReadyBoost configuration
alternatively, from Windows Explorer:
- right-click your usb drive from the left pane
- select the ReadyBoost tab and manually go through the configuration
