Grammy Award-winning vocalist Steve Tyrell returns to the McCallum stage on Tuesday, April 1, at 8:00pm. In his four decades in the music business, Steve has achieved success as an artist, producer, songwriter, music supervisor, and performer. He is a Grammy-winning producer, a two time Emmy nominee, and has been nominated for Academy and Golden Globe Awards.

Steve's quiet, but steady rise, his fresh and innovative approach, and his growing number of fans have easily made him a traditional jazz standard bearer.

Steve partnered with Barry Mann and they quickly found success. Barry, with his wife Cynthia Weill, wrote "Somewhere Out There" for the animated film, An American Tail. Steve's co-production of the song, as performed by Linda Ronstadt and James Ingram, rocketed to #1 and won Grammys for "Song of the Year" and "Best Song From a Motion Picture," and also earned an Academy Award nomination.

Music fans were introduced to Steve, the singer, through the movies, specifically, Father of the Bride in which he appeared and performed "The Way You Look Tonight." His rendition of the song so bowled over the cast, the director, and the preview audiences that it was replayed over the end credits. The songs he has sung in hit movies, "The Way You Look Tonight," "A Crush on You," and "The Simple Life" launched thousands of weddings and millions of romances.

Steve's first album in 1999, A New Standard reached #3 on the Billboard jazz chart and stayed there for an incredible 84-week period, and topped the jazz charts for another 100+ weeks. His follow-up, Standard Time, reached #2 and stayed on the charts for two years. His third release, This Time of Year, an album of holiday classics, stayed in the Top 5 even against regular non-holiday jazz albums.

With high-profile television specials, sold out shows across America, plus international raves from Moscow, London, Germany, Spain and Tokyo, Steve's following increases year after year. He recently made his first appearance with the famed Boston Pops, and, at the request of the Sinatra family, was the featured performer at the Hollywood Bowl when Frank Sinatra was inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame. With encouragement from Quincy Jones and the Sinatra family, plans were hatched for an album of Frank's material. With some of the greatest musicians in the world, playing some of the greatest songs of all time, Songs of Sinatra is an album that people will want to hear again and again and again. -- www.mccallumtheatre.com
