A few days ago QB Rex Grossman signed a one year deal with the Houston Texans for the veteran league minimum contract.
To make things even more embarrassing for Rex is that he now has to fight for a backup role with Detroit Lions cast away Dan Orlovsky.
Rex Grossman's Downfall
Last year Rex could not even beat out Kyle Ortan for the starting position in the Bears offense. This was mainly because Grossman is a very erratic performer.
One drive Rex can look great and lead his team down the field for a touchdown and the next drive make a horrible throw you would expect a rookie to make.
This inconsistent play has brought Rex to the point he is at today. While Grossman has all the tools to be a successful quarterback at the pro level, he must be more reliable before teams take him serious again.
Can Grossman Turn his Career Around?
While these are tough times for this strong armed quarterback, it could make him a good player again. For one Rex should have no problem beating out Orlovsky as the No.2 quarterback on the team.
Another reason is that Texans start Matt Schaub is very injury prone, missing at least four games each of the last two seasons.
If and when Schaub goes down again, Grossman will play in one of the best offenses in the league.
Instead of throwing footballs in the windy city of Chicago, Rex will play in a dome. This will give him more opportunity's to flash his strong arm by throwing footballs down the field.
In the end look for Rex to have a productive year and get his career back on track.
