Brady Quinn should start fro the Cleveland Browns

In 2007 Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn was selected in the first round of the NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns. From that time on it has been expected that at some point Quinn would be the Browns starting quarterback.

However in 2007 it would be another quarterback that would emerge onto the scene in Ravens reject Derek Anderson. In '07 Anderson had a fine year with 3,787 passing yards and 32 total touchdowns.

Coming into the 2008 season it was very questionable if Brady would ever start for the Browns, as Derek was entrenched as the starter last summer.

Unfortunately for the Browns Anderson and the entire team struggled and by November Brady Quinn received an opportunity to start.

In that opportunity Brandy for all things considered played decent in his first three starts, but in his third start he suffered an injury and was done for the season.

Derek Anderson received the chance to start again but in week 12 he also suffered an injury and was done for the season. Needless to say the Browns went on and had one of the worst offenses in football last year.

Things were so bad at the end for the Browns they did not even have one touchdown as an offense in the final six games of the season! I'm sure you can understand how Browns fans must be feeling after such a bad year.

Starting a New

This year the Browns have a new head coach in Eric Mangini (was the Jets head coach) and are starting a new as a team. So far in came Eric has maintained that the starting job at quarterback is an open competition.

In OTA's Derek Anderson continued to struggle as Brady Quinn played decent. Because of this Brady is now expected to take the first snaps with the offense when spring camps open this month.

With a clear path to the starters role and now in his third year in the league, I see Quinn as the winner for this job come week one of the regular season. The Browns need his up tempo style of play and leadership skills if they are to pull out of their funk on offense.

Fantasy Football Information on Brady Quinn

From a fantasy football point of view look for Brady to be a solid backup quarterback on your team this season. He may even be a starter for your team come mid season if the Browns get hot as an offense.

Obviously the Browns already have pro bowl receiver Braylon Edwards and they also drafted two second round receivers as well in Brian Robiskie and Mohamed Massaquoi. With a group of talented players around Quinn look for the Browns to grow as a passing offense in 2009 and beyond.
