Detroit Lions' Matthew Stafford is, Unlikely to Play This Week

Two weeks removed from the Detroit Lions first win in over a year they are now unlikely to have their quarterback. If the Lions lose Matthew Stafford this week it will be hard to compete against the Steelers.

Last week Stafford partially dislocated his knee and had to be pulled from the game. On Friday, Stafford was able to participate in light work in practice.

Hopefully, the team will be wise and sit Stafford for a few weeks so that he is fully healthy for the rest of his career. Seeing that the Lions drafted Stafford as the No.1 pick in the draft this past spring, it would not be wise to jeopardize his career.

In week seven the Lions have a bye week and this would give Stafford almost a month to get ready for the team's week eight game vs the Rams.

Who Will Start?

Look for the Lions to go with veteran quarterback Daunte Culpepper as the starter for the next couple weeks.

Culpepper played with the team last year and is familiar with Calvin Johnson and the offense.

While Culpepper is a capable backup for this team, it will be hard for them to scratch a win out this week.
