Panthers: DeAngelo Williams a Game Time Decision with Knee Problem

Carolina Panthers star running back DeAngelo Williams has been on fire running the ball in recent weeks. While the team needs every great performance it can get from Williams, they may have to play without him this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

On Wednesday Williams came up on the injury report with a knee injury. This was a bit unexpected because he didn't seem to have any issues with health last week against the New Orleans Saints.

In that contest Williams carried the football 21 times for 149 yards and two scores.

This production has been common place for Williams over the last month as he's posted 548 yards rushing with five touchdowns in his last four games.

While many believed that Williams would be a full go this weekend his odds of playing dropped heavily after today's news. Williams failed to practice on Friday and now ESPN's Adam Schefter believes Williams will be a game time decision.

Schefter tends to do a very good job with his news reporting, so I believe it is true that Williams may not play.

IF Williams is Out, Who Will Run?

If Williams does, in fact, miss the game than the Panthers will lean on their first round pick from a season ago in Jonathan Stewart.

Stewart has been battling a heel injury since OTA's this past spring but has played most of the season. If he is given the opportunity to start full time he should have a strong game this weekend.
