Dallas Cowboys: Just How Good is Miles Austin?
Since last off season when the Dallas Cowboys parted ways with receiver Terrell Owens, they've been looking for their next No.1 receiver. Many thought that top target would be Roy Williams, but instead it is relative no name (before this year) Miles Austin that is producing as the top man in Dallas.
This season Austin started the year as the third receiver on the team and wasn't even a starter. By week five of the NFL season, Austin did find his place in the starting lineup and posted 250 yards receiving and two touchdowns in his first start.
Since that time Austin hasn't looked back as he is now clearly Tony Romo's top target on the team.
For the season Austin has over 1,100 yards receiving and eleven touchdowns.
While these numbers are fabulous, Austin's coaches rave about this young receivers' willingness to work, blocking skills and commitment to details.
Beyond all those positives what I also like about Austin is that you can find him on the sidelines, in games, with a big smile on his face and a happy go lucky attitude.
This is something you couldn't say about Owens, as he was found many times throwing fits on the sidelines and on the field.
Can Austin Continue His Success?
As long as Austin continues his hard work to the game and continues to have a healthy quarterback in Romo, then I see no reason why this new stud receiver won't produce from here on out.
Austin is consistently beating top coverage from opponent defenses and looks to have all the tools a receiver needs to be an every year pro bowl player.
Dallas is very fortunate to have this young talent on their roster for years to come.
