The O’Donnell Foundation announces the opening of the Young Masters’ Juried Exhibition, running through May 4, 2008, comprising over thirty-seven two-dimensional and three-dimensional works of art created by students from ten area high schools participating in the Advanced Placement Studio Arts Incentive Program.
Twenty-seven area schools participate in the current five-year Pre-AP and AP Studio Art and Art History Incentive Program, Create Schools of Excellence in the Arts. All participating AP Studio Art teachers were invited to submit up to one work of art from each of their students for possible inclusion in this exhibition. A panel of judges reviewed over 250 works of art and selected the thirty-seven pieces that are on view.
Edith O’Donnell, who created the program in 1994, says, “The proudest moment for an AP Art student is to have a work of art chosen for the Young Masters exhibition at the Dallas Museum of Art. One student exclaimed, ‘I can hardly believe that I have a painting hung on the same wall with the Cezannes and Picassos.’ They never forget this great thrill and they covet this honor.” -- www.dallasmuseumofart.org
