Enjoy Minneapolis Print And Drawing Fair

The museum's Print and Drawing Curatorial Council presents this annual event to encourage collecting in the Twin Cities and to raise funds for permanent collection acquisitions and educational programs. Visitors, from beginners to experienced collectors, will discover an abundance of works on paper in a variety of styles, periods, and price ranges.

The Print and Drawing Fair gets off to an exciting start with a special Benefit Preview and Reception on Friday, April 25, 5:30–8:30 p.m. Catered by D'Amico & Sons, the preview party enables guests to meet the participating dealers in a casual atmosphere with first choice of this year's offerings. MIA curators Dennis Michael Jon, Lisa Dickinson Michaux, and Rachel McGarry will be on hand to assist patrons in making their selections. Hors d'oeuvres, live music, and a cash bar will be available.

Participants in this year's fair include: Allinson Gallery of Storrs, Connecticut, bringing American, British, and Continental fine prints, drawings, and watercolors from 1880-1960; Armstrong Fine Art, Chicago, specializing in late 19th- and early 20th-century French prints and drawings, with a focus on Belle Epoque and Modernism and featuring representational works on paper by a select group of contemporary artists; C.G. Boerner, New York, New York, bringing works on paper from the 16th to the early 20th centuries; William P. Carl Fine Prints, Northampton, Massachusetts, with European and American prints from the 19th and 20th centuries, including Dutch and Belgian works, color woodcuts 1900-1950, and contemporary prints by European masters; Crown Point Press of San Francisco, publisher of fine art limited edition etchings and woodcuts by major contemporary artists; Davidson Galleries, Seattle, purveying antique and contemporary prints with a contemporary focus on independent print artists rather than workshop prints; Abigail Furey Fine Prints and Drawings of Boston, Massachusetts, with American and European Prints from 1850 to 1950, specializing in Art Student League artists; Jim Kempner Fine Art, New York, New York, bringing contemporary master prints and works on paper; Paramour Fine Arts of Franklin, Michigan, featuring 20th-century North American, British, European, and Latin American prints and African-American images; and Carolyn Staley Fine Japanese Prints, Seattle, specializing in ukiyo-e and modern Japanese woodblock prints. -- www.artsmia.org
