EU To Allow Use Of Mobile Phones On Aircrafts

The European Commission has established guidelines for the use of mobile phones on aircraft giving formal approval of in flight cell phone use.

Passengers in aircrafts will not be able to make calls via their own individual providers; however a channel will be available which will connect all phones to a provider via satellite.

Mobile phones will not be used during take-off and landing, but only above a height of 3,000 metres.

Air France and Ryanair already have plans to introduce the system. The first carrier to allow the service was Emirates Airlines, during a flight from Dubai to Casablanca.
