Andy Moser, Assistant Secretary Division of Workforce Development at Maryland’s Department of Labor, says there are a number of sources of free money and services, its just a matter of “doing your homework” -- and not just in his state.
In a brand new online interview with popular author and talk show guest Matthew Lesko, the charismatic-slash-hyperactive man in the question-mark suit, Moser describes what seems like an endless list of places where people can apply for help to launch a new small business, pay for health care benefits, offset rising home utility costs, or paying for college or trade school.
“The more you ask, the more you learn. Do your homework, find out what’s out there and take advantage of it.” Says Moser.
The best-selling author of more than 100 books on government freebies Lesko likes nothing better than spreading the word - converting citizens into entrepreneurs by directing them little-known government programs for seed money and business expertise. But he worries that the public has become weary of email spam.
“We pay for them, but they don’t advertise these programs so most people don’t even know they exist. But I do, and I want them to have a piece of the action,” says Lesko.
Here’s a sample of a few of the programs available from the Workforce Development Centers (may vary by state):
Money and help to train for a better Job
Money to live on when you are looking for work
Money to live on while you are training to become an entrepreneur
Money and help for Veterans to start a business
Money to pay for health care premiums while looking for work
