WASHINGTON, January 9, 2007-Democratic leaders relied Tuesday that they will hold symbolic votes against President George Bush's plan to send more troops in Iraq.
Senate votes will follow introduction of legislation require Congressional approval before sending troops in Iraq.
Last couple months Democrats who hold majority in the House and wobbly balance in Senate did not reveal any strategy or alternative plan in Iraq. Some Democrats campaigning were proclaiming immediate troops withdrawals from Iraq. The argument of those voices did not match to current political circumstances in the world. Many democratic candidates held positions that were popular, pool driven but at the end did not reveal real strategy just rhetoric.
In first bipartisanship test Democratic Senate and House do exactly as they used to do when they were minority, oppose without alternative. Electorate does not see mature strategy, weighted opinion or discussion.
Sadly, the first 100 hours for Democratic majority will be remembered as clash between White House strategy and Democratic left-wing politicians.
In contrary President propose following plan that directed toward resolving situation in Iraq and a step to display strong will to win war on terror.
Here are few bullet points from President's plan.
"¢ Add another 20,000 troops on the ground
"¢ Direct impact to Iraq small business
"¢ Iranian and Syrian borders will be closely monitored by additional troops
"¢ Iraq Government required to commit more funds
In reality new faces in Pentagon, the new US ambassador in Iraq and other changes in administration display President's will to turn around things in Iraq. On the other side of the issue is Democratic Party who is lead by extreme liberals and has expressed unwillingness to confront terrorism. It is suggested that we learn from history that we do not learn anything. Vietnam War became curse only after it was lost here in US, on the Senate floor. People who where rooting out German Nazi in 1945 did not have will to confront evil communist. Iraq could be the best that happen in Iraq history, but lack of determination in US could ruin all the efforts to establish democracy in the region.
