Don McLean Makes Austin Symphony Debut

The Austin Symphony Orchestra welcomes singer/songwriter Don McLean for its next Sarah & Ernest Butler Pops concert, March 17, 2007, at Riverbend Centre. This concert is being proudly sponsored by Altria Group.

Known for such hits as "Vincent (Starry, Starry Night)" and "American Pie," Don McLean has been hailed as "the voice of the century" by such artists as Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison. As one of the most renowned singer/songwriters of our time, McLean's music influenced generations of future performers.

His over 20 critically acclaimed albums span over 30 years. He again achieved chart-topping recognition when "American Pie" was voted number 5 in a poll of the 365 "Songs of the Century" compiled by the Recording Industry Association of America and the National Endowment for the Arts. The song has also been inducted into the Grammy© Hall of Fame and has earned McLean induction into the National Academy of Popular Music Songwriter's Hall of Fame. Join Maestro Peter Bay and the Austin Symphony for an evening you will not want to miss.
