Named "America's Best"Â young classical musician by Time magazine in 2001, Hilary Hahn has become one of the most popular violinists of our time. This one-time Pike Place Market busker, received a Grammy award in 2001, as well as several Diapason d'Or de l'Annee awards, the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik, the Echo Klassik and Monde de la Musique "Choc"Â awards, and Gramophone's "CD of the Month"Â and "Editor's Choice"Â distinctions. Most recently, Hahn toured the United States, Europe and Asia in recital performances and made appearances with the Los Angeles and Luxembourg philharmonics, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the New York String Seminar, the Colorado, Barcelona, BBC, WDR and Montreal symphony orchestras, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia and the radio orchestras of Frankfurt and Sweden.
Born in Lexington, Virginia, Hahn moved to Baltimore at age three. At age ten, she was admitted to Philadelphia's Curtis Institute of Music where she studied with Jascha Brodsky and Jaime Laredo. At age thirteen, she made her Philadelphia Orchestra debut followed by engagements with the Cleveland Orchestra, New York Philharmonic and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. In 1996, sixteen-year-old Hahn made her Carnegie Hall Debut as soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
Valentina Lisitsa is another one of the world's most talented young musicians. She has appeared with Orchestre National de France, the Stuggart, Russin and Russian State symphony orchestras, the Atlanta Symphony, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, New York Philharmonic Orchestra Chamber Players and the Talich String Quartet. She has also made solo and chamber music appearance in Milan, Vienna, Amsterdam, London, Glasgow, Sand Diego, Miami, New York, and Chicago.
Born in Kiev, Ukraine, Lisitsa, graduated from the Kiev Conservatory. She made her New York debut in 1995 at the Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center under Gerard Schwarz.
