Freefall Dance Company will celebrate its fifth birthday this year and will mark the occasion with a full evenings entertainment. On 11 April, the Company will perform Freefall Five at the Patrick Centre within the Birmingham Hippodrome. The evening will feature five new and established repertoire pieces that demonstrate the versatility and talents of the performers and creators.

The performance will include narrative and abstract dances that explore the full range of emotions through the inimitable Freefall style. The Company will perform September Reflections, Nightshade, Boothill Ballet, Untitled and The Big Day Out – works all created by the Company members.

Freefall Dance Company provides opportunities for dancers of school-leaving age with severe learning disabilities. The company meets weekly at BRB studios and their two hours together are spent learning ballet technique, creating dances and working on their choreographic and performance skills.

'Freefallers' gain accreditation for their skills and knowledge through Freefall's own Open College Network qualification 'Excellence in Ballet' and the Arts Council England's National Arts Award. The company has an extensive repertoire and performance record, regularly performing at Birmingham Hippodrome's Patrick Centre, Birmingham's annual Artsfest and across the City in a range of professional and community contexts. In addition, Freefall members regularly demonstrate their teaching skills and share their passion for dance through their innovative and rigorous outreach activities.

Led by former Birmingham Royal Ballet dancers and staff from Fox Hollies Performing Arts College, Freefall Dance Company was founded in 2002-3 evolving from a strong ongoing relationship between the two organisations. -- www.brb.org.uk
