RTS Stock Market Trading Results

In March 2008 Russian Trading System Index was going down, as compared to the end of February and by the end of the trading session as of March 31st, 2008 reached 2 053,93 against 2 063,94 as of the end of the previous month.

To leaders of negative impact on Russian Trading System Index belonged Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) (-16,6) and RAO UESR ordinary shares (EESR) (-8,3). Significant positive impact was related to increasing prices for ordinary shares of LUKOIL (LKOH) (+45,1) and for Rosneft ordinary shares (ROSN) (+14,7).

The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 went down by 8,26% to reach 2 465,21 (2 611,49 as of the end of February, 2008). For the last month practically all key sectors, represented on the Russian stock market, showed a multidirectional dynamics. Russian Trading System Index – Metals and Mining showed the highest rise in liquid securities – 22,98%. However, a considerable drop was registered in sector of Finance and Telecommunications, the corresponding Sectoral Indices went down by 2,89% and 1,56%. The largest drop was registered in electric utilities, financials and metallurgy. RTS Index – Electric Utilities shed 11,55%, RTS Index – Financials shrank by 8,59% and RTS Index – Metals & Mining was down by 8,02%. Significant growth was demonstrated in telecom and oil & gas. RTS Index – Telecom was up by 6,22% and RTS Index – Oil & Gas gained 5,25%.

In March 2008 the trading volume on RTS equaled 25,5 billion dollars (606,2 billion rubles*), including all types of trades.

The top sellers of the month on Russian Trading System Stock market were OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" ordinary shares (GMKN) – $213,3 mln., Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) - $185,6 mln., followed by PAO UESR ordinary shares (EESR) - $161,5 mln. The share of the above securities in the turnover made up 19,16%, 16,67% and 14,50% respectively.

The top gainers of the month were ordinary shares of Ryazan Energy Retail Company (RZSB) that experienced a 100% growth and reached $0,2, ordinary shares of "Nizhnekamskshina" Corp. (NKSH) that went up by 54,55% and reached $1,7 and "VolgaTelecom" ordinary shares (NNSI) that were up by 23,17% to hit $5,05.

The top losers of the week were ordinary shares of JSC "OGK-5" (OGKE), that fell in price by 25,30% to reach $0,1225, privileged shares of URSA Bank (URSAP) that went up by 24,05% to reach $1,2 and PJSC "Belon" ordinary shares (BLNG) that were up by 23,33% and reached $115. -- www.rts.ru
