Sir James, Lady Galway To Perform With Ulster Orchestra

The ‘man with the golden flute’, Sir James Galway is coming to Dublin to give a special concert with the Ulster Orchestra in the National Concert Hall. With his wife, Lady Jeanne Galway, Sir James will be playing music by Mozart and a range of showpieces and appealing melodies.

The Magic Flute would be no exaggeration. Sir James Galway is a supreme interpreter of the flute repertoire and a consummate entertainer whose appeal crosses all musical boundaries. He remains one of the most recorded and televised classical artists performing today. Joined by conductor Michael Krajewski and the Ulster Orchestra for a compelling mix of favourite classics, the Galways will thrill the National Concert Hall audience on Thursday 17 April.

Sir James and Lady Galway’s programme includes Mozart’s Flute Concerto in D, an arrangement of themes from The Magic Flute, and popular classics by Henry Mancini, including Pink Panther and Speedy Gonzales!

The concert is the last in a series of three in the current Dublin season sponsored by Ulster Bank Group as part of a major partnership with the Ulster Orchestra, helping it to develop new audiences across Ireland.

Speaking of the Orchestra’s three-year partnership with Ulster Bank Group, the Bank’s Chairman, Dr Alan Gillespie, said: “High quality live classical music is an amazing experience and at Ulster Bank we’re delighted to support the Ulster Orchestra’s commitment to musical excellence. Performing in Dublin further develops the profile of the Orchestra and introduces a whole new audience to much-loved and highly respected musicians from Northern Ireland.” -- www.ulster-orchestra.org.uk
