The demand for new home may take 2 years more to return to the normal rate, in the prevailing situation. This is the concern expressed by the Head of National Association of Home Builders.
In general any recession in housing sector recovers fast which is absent this time. So, the stability of housing sector may need more time and it may go well past 2010 mark. According to the experts, the market may start to stabilize in the early summer. The demand will take some more time to pick up and after sometime after increasing demand only stability can be expected.
Anticipation is that, there may be more job loss than 2007. In 2007, even after strong demand for public sector and non residential building, the industry lost 165,000 jobs. This year the number will be much more. As the construction work will be lesser this year so as to clean up the inventory, so workers may not be able to find work in construction.
According to the real estate experts, the spring selling season is not able to show any good sign till now. They also think that Senate’s new legislation is though good but is too late to make any impact on foreclosure this year.
The new bill will help homebuilders by offering tax relief to many of them. The homebuilders and the investment banks, affected by the mortgage crisis, will get back the taxes owed for the previous four years by using their losses in 2008 and 2009.
The bill also has something in store for the homeowners. It offers $7,000 tax credit for buyers who buy homes in foreclosure.
