Reports have surfaced that newly engaged singers Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz may have more news for the public, that Ashlee Simpson is now pregnant. MSN's Courney Hazlett writes that "Newly engaged couple Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz have more good news to share: the two have a baby on the way, according to OK! magazine."
That people get engaged is very good, that Ashlee Simpson is pregnant is good too, but when people announce over the weekend their engagement and on Monday they announce that Ashlee Simpson is pregnant I have questions about that.
Is it good that people get pregnant before they are married? Is it good that apparently people are pregnant even before they are engaged. It's kind of quick, weekend engagement and Monday pregnancy annunciation.
While some may misunderstand and critique this story, I would like to make it clear that I am writing more about family values then Ashlee Simpson's or any other celebrity's pregnancy.
I am calling on more serious approach to family values and more parental guidance.
Years ago I met a beautiful girl in my transatlantic flight. While she was engaged to her boyfriend she seemed not to be in love with him. I asked then why did you get engaged, she told me it's the fashion now. Cool thing to do.
Erosion of strong family values are one of the biggest threats to our social setting and stability. 50 or 60 years ago people would not accept pregnancy not only before engagement, but even before marriage. Quo vadis society?
Ashlee and Pete, I do wish you all the best, many blessings to your future family life and on your upcoming sweet child. May you truly be blessed and let not the celebrity status, fashion and lifestyle ever distance you from one another.
