Baiba Skride Makes Minnesota Orchestra Debut

Twenty-six-year-old Latvian violinist Baiba Skride makes her Minnesota Orchestra debut in concerts on April 17 to 19, playing Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor under the baton of Music Director Osmo Vänskä.

The program also features one of Mozart's best-known works, the light-hearted Eine kleine Nachtmusik, as well as Hindemith's Mathis der Maler Symphony, a work banned by the Nazi Party shortly after its premiere in 1934, and Rossini's Overture to The Barber of Seville.

The concerts are held at Orchestra Hall on Thursday, April 17, at 11 a.m., Friday, April 18, at 8 p.m., and Saturday, April 19, at 8 p.m., with ticket prices ranging from $21 to $83. -- www.minnesotaorchestra.org
