The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra proudly presents The Springs Concert 2008: Dancing Under the Stars, an outdoor concert featuring the Orlando Philharmonic performing on a stage built right on the beautiful body of water known as Sanlando Springs.
The concert is held on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at The Springs Community. Gates open at 5:00 PM. The concert begins at 8:00 PM. The Orlando Philharmonic is delighted to continue this concert tradition, which has become the orchestra’s most popular concert of the year and a social event not to be missed.
Imagine a stunning Florida sunset while sipping your favorite brand of wine, entertained by a full symphony orchestra. The temperature is indicative of a luscious spring night. Egrets, turtles and a sparkling, clear spring lake are the backdrop for the 55-piece orchestra and guest artists. You’ve just envisioned the Orlando Philharmonic’s Concert at The Springs!
Now in its fifth year, this year's event promises to be more entertaining than ever as the Orlando Philharmonic takes you Dancing Under the Stars. On the program is a variety of contemporary and classic dance music like the lively and flirtatious cha cha, the smooth sounds of the foxtrot, the swinging sounds of the jive, the sensuous sounds of the Latin dances – like the mambo, samba, and tango, and the music of the ever-popular and elegant waltz.
Principal Pops and Resident Conductor Andrew Lane returns to conduct the orchestra in this outdoor celebration. Featured vocalist Michelle Amato lends her musical talents to some of your favorite tunes. The evening’s entertainment is highlighted with a dance contest featuring some of the most recognizable faces in the community.
Pack a picnic basket with your favorite food and beverages, grab a blanket or low lawn chair and sit back and enjoy a warm spring evening under the stars, filled with beautiful music and good friends. And because this event falls on Kentucky Derby day, hats and Derby-themed picnics are encouraged! Alcoholic beverages are permitted for patrons 21 and older.
