Olympic ice skater Pasha Grishuk did not know what was going on when she felt ill and numb during the dinner after attending a business meeting at the St. Regis Monarch Beach.

Later the officials, investigating the matter found that Pasha Grishuk was actually drugged with GHB, which happened on April 12 of this year.

FDA says "by powerfully and rapidly depressing the central nervous system, GHB can produce an intoxicated feeling that has earned it a reputation as a pleasure enhancer for thrill-seeking youngsters. But its side effects can range from nausea and vomiting to delusions, depression, vertigo, hallucinations, seizures, difficulty breathing, slowed heart rate, low blood pressure, amnesia, and coma."

While eating dinner, Pasha Grishuk spotted a partially dissolved pill in the bottom of her drink. Orange County investigators later found another dissolved pill in the bottom of a drink Grishuk ordered in the hotel's lounge.

At this time it was not clear who put the GHB in Pasha Grishuk's drinks, but the authorities are working to find out.

GHB is clearly dangerous. "The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration officially cites more than 45 deaths and 5,500 emergency room overdoses associated with GHB. Since 1990, the Food and Drug Administration has issued multiple warnings to consumers about the drug's sometimes-deadly effects." - source: FDA.

When we called the Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino returned our call and told us the following about Pasha Grishuk's case.

At this time the investigators don't know who did it to Pasha Grishuk. They are talking to some people, particularly to a person at the business meeting, who is obviously a man, several other people as well. It's hard to say at this stage, who may have done it, and Jim would not like to speculate.

Once investigators complete the investigation, they will take the results to the Orange County District Attorney Office for the possible filing of charges.

This is what Jim also told me about Pasha. Grishuk felt very ill and strange during the dinner. She found the partially dissolved pill at the bottom of the wine glass and was taken to the local hospital. Jim told me that Pasha was smart enough to give the pill to the deputies.

She was dragged at least two times, once in a lunge and once in the restaurant.

This information came to us by Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino .

Pasha Grishuk won two Olympic gold medals and four World Championships in ice dancing with Evgeny Platov. The pair won 22 consecutive competitions during this time. They combined speed and difficult elements, and displayed their mastery of numerous styles of dance.
