The irrepressible John Otway & Wild Willy Barrett bring their sensational Strung Together Tour to Blackpool's Grand Theatre on Sunday 11th May for Studio Blues 2008. John Otway and Wild Willy Barrett first achieved fame with an unforgettable performance on the infamous TV show The Old Grey Whistle Test and subsequent hit single Really Free in 1977 and have since forged a long and successful musical partnership.
Notorious British singer/songwriter John Otway has built a huge cult audience through unrelenting touring, a surreal sense of humour and a winning underdog personality. His autobiography (subtitled Rock and Roll's Greatest Failure) was a study in self-deprecation and a well orchestrated campaign saw the line Beware Of The Flowers Cause I'm Sure They're Going To Get You Yeah from one of his records voted the seventh greatest lyric of all time in a BBC poll.
A well as touring, John also delivers occasional lectures entitled Making Success Out Of Failure and runs a motorcycle club of dedicated fans called Beware of the Flowers MCC.
Wild Willy Barrett is one of the most accomplished multi-instrumentalists working today, playing acoustic classical guitar with an original style and virtuosity few could match. He is credited with supporting guitar, fiddle and vocals on a number of albums from Rolf Harris's version of Stairway to Heaven to playing fiddle, guitar and mandolin for George Hamilton IV. Wild Willy is a regular on the festival circuit and is also known for playing slide guitar with a whole raw egg and building his own instruments! -- www.blackpoolgrand.co.uk
