Despite all the skepticism from the media, Psystar has produced a video that purports to show "the triplets," three Open Computers running Ubuntu Linux, Windows XP and Mac OS X Leopard.
The video is posted on their website, but a copy has also been uploaded to YouTube.
The Open Computer running OS X is shown running Quake 4. There's not a whole lot of detail or close-ups in the video, which lasts about one and a half minutes. According to the narrator, the video was created using Final Cut Pro on one of their own Open Computers.
Things like this make me feel this operation is less vaporish than I originally thought, but it would be great if a reputable site could get their hands on one of the "bad boys," as Psystar calls them, and reviews them. Or even if an end user could confirm having received one of them!
According to Wikipedia "Since Apple transitioned the Macintosh to an Intel platform in 2006, and subsequent to a major increase in visibility (if not in computer market share) for Apple with the success of the iPod, large computer system manufacturers such as Dell have expressed renewed interest in creating Macintosh clones. While various industry executives, notably Michael Dell, have stated publicly that they would like to sell Macintosh-compatible computers, Apple VP Phil Schiller said the company does not plan to let people run Mac OS X on other computer makers' hardware. "We will not allow running Mac OS X on anything other than an Apple Mac," he said. However, modified versions of Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5, dubbed "Mac OSx86", are available to use on generic PC hardware. In fact, one company has announced the future release of a computer with OSx86 preloaded. However, currently there is questionability over the identity of Psystar Corporation and whether they are in fact a real business in operation."
Watch the Psystar video and see for yourself.
