
American Water, the largest investor-owned U.S. water and wastewater utility company, headquartered in Voorhees, N.J., today opened for trading on the New York Stock Exchange. The stock began trading today under the ticker symbol "AWK " in connection with the sale by RWE Aqua Holdings GmbH of 58 million shares in an initial public offering.
"American Water is a welcome addition to our growing family of NYSE-listed companies," said NYSE Euronext Group Executive Vice President and Head of Global Listings, Catherine R. Kinney.
