Bring Some Costume Drama To Your Life

Posted April 28th, 2008 by ruzik_tuzik

After another busy and successful year, York Theatre Royal's Costume Hire Department is running out of space, due to the fact that a stunning new range of costumes is produced for every single production. So its out with the old and in with the new, as the theatre prepares for its ever-popular Costume Sale, which will take place at York Theatre Royal on Saturday 3 May between 10am – 4pm.

Pauline Rourke, Costume Hire Manager says previous sales have proved hugely popular: "In the past people have come from all over to purchase a piece of theatre history. You can pick up such an extraordinary range of garments from period costumes to comic items such as pantomime garb. Berwick Kaler's hilarious frocks are always much in demand!"

The theatre will be looking for new homes and loving owners for a number of costumes that have at one time graced York Theatre Royal’s stage. This is a fantastic chance to own a little piece of memorabilia from your favourite shows - or simply pick up a few bargains. The sale is open to everyone, from dramatic societies to fun loving party people and dedicated followers of fashion. The café bar will also be offering a special coffee and croissant deal for all who attend.

The event will also see York Musical Theatre previewing songs from their latest production The Scarlet Pimpernel in the foyer from 10am onwards. The musical will be at York Theatre Royal from 14-24 May. -- www.yorktheatreroyal.co.uk
