In a press conference dedicated to yesterday's 'very different vision' presented by pastor Jeremiah Wright Barack Obama denounced the words of his former pastor saying that he is 'outraged by the comments that were made and saddened by the spectacle.'
Barack just concluded the press conference in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
This press conference was a really surprise one, where Obama actually cut his ties with pastor Wright using very strong words.
Barack says while he has been a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Christ since 1992 the person that he saw yesterday was not the person that he met almost twenty years ago.
In the press conference Obama said "They offend me, they rightly offend all Americans and they should be denounced," he said. "That’s what I am doing very clearly and unequivocally here today."
Obama was obviously angered that his previous denunciation of pastor Wright's remarks were political posturing. "Anybody who knows me and anybody who knows what I’m about knows that I’m about trying to bridge gaps and I see the commonality in all people."
"I have said before and I will repeat again that some of the comments that Reverend Wright has made offend me and I understand why they've offended the American people," Obama told reporters hastily gathered for an impromptu press conference on the tarmac in Wilmington, N.C.
"He does not speak for me. He does not speak for the campaign and so he may make statements in the future that don't reflect my values or concerns," Obama continued, later adding with a smile, "I think certainly what the last three days indicate is that we're not coordinating with him."
I would like to see in which direction the North Carolina polls will move after the Obama conference and his strong words on his former pastor.
