Microsoft Plans a "Senior PC"

The U.K. wants to get the last 1/3 of its citizens online, and that's clear from the National Digital Inclusion Conference currently being held in London. As part of that movement, Microsoft U.K. is working on a so-called "Senior PC" which will feature a simplified user interface.

Of course, my question would then be: has anyone seen the results of improvement efforts by Microsoft on Windows Mobile's UI?

At any rate, the PCs will also include a "digital literacy curriculum." This would be a step-by-step guide to getting online and performing simple computer tasks. Hopefully a "Senior PC" will include an antivirus program (ugh, Windows Live OneCare?) by default, as well.

The PC is being developed by Microsoft U.K. in partnership with charities the Age Concern and Help the Aged. Microsoft U.K. indicated that initially the PC will be given to a thousand households and this will be gradually scaled up to 10,000. The PC is hoped to be ready in about a year.
