Golden Apricot 6th International Film Festival Opens in Yerevan

Yerevan today gave the start of the sixth Golden Apricot International Film Festival. Movie makers from 65 countries had sent their films to Armenia for the participation in this festival. Only 110 movies from 450 applications will be screened in Armenia this time during the Festival.

Film “The first circle” by Loren Turner with the French actor Jean Reno in the role of an Armenian criminal and Armenian-French producer Alan Perzyan will open the 6th International Film Festival “Golden Apricot” in Yerevan at the Moscow Cinema and will last from July 12 to 19. Nearly 450 applications from 65 countries had been submitted for participation but after a”rigid” selection 110 films from 40 countries were admitted to the festival.

A special event is planned at the“Golden Apricot” festival this year. Armenian version of the film“Colour of pomegranates”,with the participation of its producing staff will be shown regarded to the 85th birth anniversary of Sergei Parajanov as well as the 40th anniversary of the mentioned film. Shows of the films by Pole Jerzy Skolimovsky, Japanese Kôhei Oguri and American Rob Nilson are to be presented during the festival as well.
