The initiative is definitely taken from Russian experience. Russia also has created its own four separate gambling zones. The idea of becoming a gambling area will supplement the financial, educational, information, tourism and health programs of the republic.
For the implementation of the idea the government of Armenia has approved the draft bill to move amendments in the law “On games with money prize and gambling establishments” which will be submitted to the National Assembly in a set order. According to the new draft the gambling zones and the games with money prize must be organized only within the administrative borders of Tsaghkadzor, Sevan and Jermuk as well as out of the mentioned administrative borders only in case when centers, motels and health centers contain more than 125 hotel rooms with an investment programs of about 1 billion dollars.
In addition to this, gambling venues may be located nearby Zvartnots International Airport, which is the main international airport serving the capital of Armenia, as well as in the areas of free economic zone.
The goal is to bring more tourists from the region and to drive the gambling sites away from the inner cities.
