“The USSR, national policy by Stalin and Michael Gorbachev who had lost the control of the situation in late 1980-s carry the whole responsibility for making the Nagorno Karabakh conflict” , - the journalist of the First Chanel of Russia Maxim Shevchenko has told the correspondent of “Arminfo” agency. “Special efforts needed to be exerted to stir up hatred and foster a war among USSR citizens. At that time Moscow was not quite sensible to understand the gist of the situation, it was making contradictory statements which radically opposed to the true logic.
Some politicians protected Azerbaijan, others Armenia and the effect resulted in rising the Nagorno Karabakh conflict as the first confrontation promoting the collapse of the USSR”, - Shevchenko has noted.
In this regard Shevchenko considers Moscow carries the whole responsibility for the conflict as it might have been solved without slaughter, violence and formation of illegal military organizations.
“The most important thing is that it was possible to avert hundreds of thousands of human griefs, who became refugees in a second”, - the journalist has summed up.
