The tour agencies have been proposed to organize three-day cognitive visits to Nagorno Karabakh Republic to get familiarized with the perspectives and the possibilities of the tourism development in the region.
A representative of Karabakh’s tourism development agency present at the meeting offered the travel agents financial incentives to bring more Armenian tourists to the disputed region. He said the total cost of a five-day holiday tour of Karabakh will now range from 70,000 drams ($193) to 110,000 drams per person.
In another working meeting held by Karen Karapetyan, the head of the Armenian Presidential Administration the doctrine of the development of Jermuk town has been discussed. The development of the Southern Jermuk town, which was a major all inclusive vacation spot during the Soviet times bringing hundreds of thousands of tourists from all over Russia and neighboring towns, was included in the pre-electoral campaign of the president of Armenian Serzh Sargsyan.
Economy Minister Nerses Eritsyan, present at the meeting, assured that after the implementation of the program Jermuk will turn into all-year-run health and touristic center, corresponding to all international standards.
The government will have its share in investing in the tourism industry of Jermuk and will make efforts to bring more investors to develope Jermuk's potential.
