NI Named in FORTUNE's '100 Best Companies

FORTUNE magazine yesterday released its annual rankings of the nation's top 100 companies to work for, listing Austin-based National Instruments as number 86. This is the eighth consecutive year National Instruments has appeared on FORTUNE's "100 Best Companies to Work For" list.

National Instruments

The annual survey polls employees nationwide about the quality of their corporate cultures. Employees cited the company's laid-back culture as one of the reasons that makes the company a great place to work.

"When I founded National Instruments more than 30 years ago, I wanted to foster a successful business and promote a fun yet challenging environment that made employees excited to come to work," said Dr. James Truchard, NI president, co-founder and CEO. "We are thrilled to be included on this list for the eighth consecutive year and will continue to grow an inspiring work environment that emphasizes individuality, innovation, respect, growth and ownership."

While National Instruments is best known for pioneering virtual instrumentation with its LabVIEW graphical system design platform, internal programs support the company's belief that well-rounded employees foster the NI community and provide inspiration to excel. Programs such as LEGO® MINDSTORMS® mentorships and the company's internal community relations department provide employees with volunteer opportunities to help them give back to the community. The Wellness Circuit program and on-site gym encourage a healthy lifestyle, and activities such as deck parties and company-wide meetings foster camaraderie and a sense of community within the corporate environment.

"We are most proud to have been selected as one of FORTUNE's '100 Best Companies to Work For' for eight straight years because it showcases our consistent commitment to our employees and the great work environment we strive to create," said Mark Finger, NI vice president of human resources. "We believe that our 'people advantage' - hiring the best and the brightest, creating a great work environment and offering superior employee development - is central to the long-term success of all NI stakeholders and creates a competitive advantage for our business."

In addition to the FORTUNE "100 Best Companies to Work For" list, National Instruments has been named one of the best places to work in Hungary, the United Kingdom and Italy. Capitol also twice named National Instruments as one of the top 50 employers in Germany - National Instruments.
