Liverpool’s very own spontaneous theatre ensemble – Hoof! – make their debut at the Everyman theatre this May following a number of sell-out performances at the Unity theatre. The only ensemble in the UK performing this edge-of-your-seat, spontaneous theatre, the cult company will be performing two nights with 2 brand new, completely improvised plays each night on May 9 and 10.
Hoof! is an astonishing theatre event: five suited performers and a musician step out onto a bare stage with only their collective imagination, an array of instruments and some multi media wizardry from which to create an entirely original piece of narrative theatre. There is no preplanning, no audience prompts and definitely no cheating.
Hoof! was created by Rejects Revenge Theatre Company and Spike Theatre following two UK performance projects with The Hothouse Improv Studio, Los Angeles, in 2004 and 2005. The company have been playing regular dates in Liverpool since then as well as performing across the UK and the US, but these two dates mark their debut on the Everyman stage.
Ann Farrar, one of the ensemble’s founders and directors said: “After wowing audiences across the UK, Hoof! is building up quite a following. We’re really glad that the biggest following has been built from the outset in our home city of Liverpool. We’re sure this great opportunity to play at The Everyman will keep the audiences growing.” -- www.everymanplayhouse.com
