HKEx Appoints Consultant To Review Corporate Social Responsibility Practices

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) announced today (Thursday) the appointment of the Business Environment Council (BEC) to conduct an independent review of the existing corporate social responsibility (CSR) policies and practices of HKEx, and to carry out a green audit of HKEx's operations. The review is expected to be completed in about four months.

HKEx believes that good management of CSR is required to meet the evolving social demands in today's business environment.

With a view to further enhance HKEx's CSR measures and to develop appropriate sustainable CSR practices, HKEx issued a Request for Proposal for the review in February of this year. Interested candidates were interviewed and assessed by an internal evaluation team which made a recommendation to the HKEx Executive Committee for its approval.

The BEC is an independent, private-sector non-profit organisation in Hong Kong promoting corporate social and environmental responsibilities. It offers sustainable business services covering assessment, advice, research, training and award programmes. -- www.hkex.com.hk
