As Myanmar grapples with crisis in the aftermath of deadly cyclone Nargis, another tropical storm appears headed for its shores, the India Meteorological Department said.

IMD, which is the Regional Specialised Meteorological Centre of the World Meteorological Office, has issued an advisory on the impending extreme weather condition.

"A low pressure area lied over East Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Myanmar," the IMD advisory said on Wednesday.

In association with the low pressure area, Myanmar will experience scattered to broken low/medium clouds with embedded moderate to intense convective clouds over south western areas of the country, south Arakan coast, Bay of Bengal, North Andaman Sea and Gulf of Martban, it said.

The 2nd May cylcone left a trail of death and destruction in Myanmar with death toll feared over one lakh.

The United Nations has warned that the Myanmar could face a "second catastrophe" unless its military junta allows more access to foreign aid agencies to help the victims of Cyclone Nargis.
