Barack in Watertown: Real Leadership for Rural Communities

Posted May 16th, 2008 by admin_huliq

This morning in Watertown, South Dakota, Barack hosted a town hall forum with a packed crowd and discussed his plan to provide real leadership to rural communities. As a Senator from a rural, Midwestern state, Barack has worked to ensure rural America’s prosperity and vitality, and he will continue to do so as our next president.

The town hall meeting this morning was another opportunity where Barack was able to speak face to face with farmers and ranchers to make sure that his policy proposals meshed with the problems rural communities face every day.

In a conference call on Monday, “Dallas Tonsager and Dennis Wiese, both former presidents of the South Dakota Farmers Union, said Obama was the best choice for South Dakota farmers and ranchers. Wiese said he was impressed that Obama based his rural agenda on personal meetings with farmers and ranchers, rather than Washington lobbyists.”

Barack Obama has been reaching out for years to listen and respond to rural communities needs. As president he will:

• Ensure Economic Opportunity for Family Farmers and Ranchers
• Promote Rural America’s Leadership in Developing Renewable Energy
• Support Rural Economic Development
• Improve Rural Quality of Life
• Protect the Rights of Sportsmen

If you are in the Sioux Falls area, don’t forget about Barack’s One-Stop Early Voting rally tonight with special guests Senator George McGovern and Senator Tom Daschle!
