Lucas Glover became the winner of the U.S. Open 2009 today at the age of 29.

He called it "a test of patience" and said that he played with heart, and it won him the trophy. South Carolinian Lucas Glover took home the win at the 2009 U.S. Open. Glover beat the odds given him by his critics. Never having been a contender at any of his previous three U.S. Open appearances, Glover seemed an unlikely candidate but nevertheless came out on top.

In second place was Mickelson, who was playing as his wife, Amy, sent him encouraging cards and text messages. Amy is scheduled to have surgery for breast cancer next week, and Mickelson was disappointed at this, his 5th finish as a runner up at the U.S. Open.

His best finish on the PGA TOUR in 2009 is 1st at the U.S. Open Championship. Lucas Glover ranks T13th in Scoring Average on the PGA TOUR.
