The public is invited to the Illinois State Museum for the Funscapes Family Art Event. Celebrate Illinois' diverse landscapes at this special family event, in conjunction with the exhibition Grammar of Landscape: Photographic Visions of Illinois.

This photographic exploration of Illinois' diverse landscapes will be on exhibit at the Museum through July 27, 2008. Funscapes is sponsored by Bank of Springfield.

Children will create their own landscapes through fun, art projects using sidewalk chalk, foam shapes, and blocks as well as traditional art supplies. Springfield artist Helen Stannard will explore art with an exciting hands-on activity, and photographer Ginny Lee will introduce visitors to photography through various types of cameras.

Families can explore how the Illinois landscape has changed over 500 million years as they complete a search activity through the Changes exhibit. A Place for Discovery will be full of great activities for Super Saturday. Visitors will have the chance to win a door prize. This event is free and open to the public. -- www.museum.state.il.us
